Renault: Carlos Ghosn appeals refusal against his release
(CercleFinance.com) - The Tokyo court has announced that Carlos Ghosn's lawyers have appealed against the refusal to release their client on bail, with Renault's Chairman and CEO having been in prison since November, due to a case regarding breach of trust and undeclared remuneration when he was in charge of the Japanese brand Nissan.
The Japanese legal authorities deemed that in the event of Carlos Ghosn's release, there was a risk of him absconding abroad or altering evidence. This is of course denied by Ghosn's lawyers.
Last night, on the news channel LCI, the Minister of the Economy Bruno Le Maire said that the State wanted the appointment of a new director to lead of the Renault group - due to the expected duration of Carlos Ghosn's imprisonment. According to reports in the press, an exceptional board meeting is scheduled to take place this Sunday to discuss the matter.
