Renault: Carlos Ghosn's mandate extended?

(CercleFinance.com) - According to Le Figaro, Carlos Ghosn will soon be re-elected as head of Renault.


Although he should soon be flanked by a number two, the emblematic boss of the French carmaker should see his mandate renewed at the board of directors meeting to be held on 15 February, the newspaper believes.

64-year-old CEO Carlos Ghosn's current term of office will expire on 9 March. According to different sources, the directors, alongside major Renault shareholders, including the French State, will propose that Mr. Ghosn's mandate is renewed. All have agreed on a roadmap that sets a priority: sustain the Renault-Nissan Alliance, Le Figaro writes.

That's not all: Le Figaro recalls that at Nissan, Mr. Ghosn has already placed operational control to Hiroto Saikawa. This is also expected at Renault, even though the process could last a while.

The recruitment of a Chief Operating Officer for Renault is apparently underway, with a headhunter having been given this task. Le Figaro believes that this post will be filled by a French person who already works at Renault: the name of Thierry Bolloré, chief competitive officer, has been mentioned.
