Renault: teams up with Sogeclair in autonomous vehicles.

(CercleFinance.com) - Yesterday evening Renault announced the formation of a joint venture dedicated to autonomous vehicles with a subsidiary of the Toulouse-based engineering group Sogeclair.

In detail, Renault will take 35% of a joint venture called Autonomous Vehicle Simulation (AVS) alongside Oktal, a subsidiary of Sogeclair. AVS will be dedicated to the development and testing of autonomous vehicles.

"This acquisition includes the SCANeRTM software (invented by Renault and jointly developed with Oktal), one of the most important driving simulation tools in the world, already implemented by Renault and Nissan," the group said.

For the record, the Renault-Nissan "Alliance" intends to launch ten vehicles that have autonomous capacities by 2020.
