Eiffage: Duchêne to build a lock in Belgium

(CercleFinance.com) - The Eiffage Group today announces that Eiffage Benelux's subsidiary, Duchêne, is preparing to build a large-scale lock on the Ampsin-Neuville site, between Liège and Namur (Belgium).

Located on the Meuse, the site of Ampsin-Neuville is the third most frequented in Wallonia, with 9,250,000 tonnes of goods passing through it in 2017, a figure that has doubled in 20 years. In service since 1958, the site is now rehabilitated to reduce the waiting time of boatmen and facilitate the passage of larger boats, Eiffage said.

The work will begin this year and will end in 2023. With this new lock, the aim is to transit over 25 million tonnes of goods and raise the capacity of the entire network.
