Lagardère: deploys WeChat Pay solution in Europe
(CercleFinance.com) - With the advent of the Chinese new year, on Friday evening Lagardère Travel Retail announced the introduction of the WeChat Pay solution at its Duty Free shops in Europe.
It will be launched in shops at Terminal 1 of Roissy - Charles de Gaulle airport, operated by SDA (society of Distribution airport), the joint venture between Lagardère Travel Retail and ADP group. WeChat Pay will then be deployed on other platforms.
With over 600 million active users, WeChat Pay is a secure smartphone payment system that is prevalent in China. It is integrated into the WeChat application and is developed by Tencent, a social network that has nearly a billion users.
