Vivendi: FY earnings up sharply
(CercleFinance.com) - Published after trading on Thursday, Vivendi's 2018 results included a 33.
6% increase in adjusted net income (excluding extraordinary items), to 1.16 billion euros.
EBITA and the group's underlying operating profit came in at 1.29 billion euros and 1.44 billion respectively, up 33% (+24.7% at a constant consolidation scope and exchange rates) and 31% (+22.7% at a constant consolidation scope and exchange rates).
Vivendi announced sales of 13.93 billion euros, up 11.3% and +4.9% at a constant consolidation scope and exchange rates compared to 2017. Performance was particularly boosted by the strong performances of Universal Music Group (+6.2%), even though there is a slight decline at Canal+ (-0.6%).
"Vivendi is confident in the evolution of its main businesses in 2019. As regards Canal+ Group, after a strong improvement in its profitability in 2018, it will continue its improvement efforts and its 2019 profitability is expected to be even better than it was on 2018," the company said regarding its outlook.
