Vivendi: says does not control Telecom Italia under law.
(CercleFinance.com) - Vivendi considers that it does not exercise any "de facto" control over Telecom Italia under Italian law, the French media group said late on Monday.
In a statement, Vivendi said that its stake in Telecom Italia is not enough to allow it to exercise, on a stable basis, a dominant influence at Telecom Italia shareholders' meetings.
At the end of 2016, Vivendi held around 23.2% of Telecom Italia's ordinary shares. Its chief executive officer, Arnaud de Puyfontaine, was appointed as executive chairman of the Italian operator in June.
The statement was issued after Italian market regulator Consob requested that Vivendi issue a press release regarding its stake in Telecom Italia.
