Casino: partners Qarnot Computing for data centers
(CercleFinance.com) - Casino has announced a strategic partnership with Qarnot Computing to install and operate next-generation data centers in warehouses and storerooms of its shops, which will be operated by their joint venture, ScaleMax.
The business will generate revenue for Casino through the rental of available space and the provision of electricity for data centers. In addition, it is planned to reuse the heat generated by the servers to heat the buildings concerned.
The first data center will be operational in the first quarter of 2019 in a logistics warehouse of Cdiscount, Seine-et-Marne. About 20 additional sites are expected to be deployed by 2023 in a context of strong growth in the supercomputing market.
