Veolia: waste-to-energy facility in Australia

(CercleFinance.com) - Veolia announces that it has been selected for the management and maintenance of the Kwinana project, Australia's first waste-to-energy facility, which will initially produce about 40 MWh of clean energy, enough to supply 50,000 homes.

Found in Kwinana, near Perth, the plant will process 400,000 tonnes of municipal solid waste. The operation will create 34 permanent jobs and will begin in 2021, once the construction is completed by Acciona, a partner of the consortium.

The French utilities group will operate and maintain the project for an initial period of 25 years, for cumulative revenue of approximately 450 million Australian dollars (around 278 million euros).
