Essilor: photochromic innovation for contact lenses
(CercleFinance.com) - Essilor has announced that its subsidiary Transitions Optical and Johnson & Johnson Vision will make leading light-adaptive photochromic technology available in a contact lens for the first time with "Acuvue Oasys with Transitions Light Intelligent Technology".
Depending on changes in light, this lens quickly changes from light to dark, therefore reducing eye exposure to bright light indoors and outdoors, including filtering blue light and blocking UV rays.
It has received US FDA clearance and is recommended for the reduction of excessive levels of brightness. It will be marketed by Johnson & Johnson Vision Care in the first half of 2019.
