Essilor: New Zealand approves merger with Luxottica.
(CercleFinance.com) - The New Zealand Trade Commission, the national competition regulator, has given its go-ahead to the merger of Essilor International and Luxottica, it was learned yesterday.
The Commission believes that this deal is not likely to substantially reduce competition in the ophthalmic market in New Zealand.
For the record, the French ophthalmic optics giant and the Italian eyewear specialist intend to finalise the approval procedure around the end of this year.
