Peugeot: creates the JV ACC with Total
(CercleFinance.com) - PSA and Total have announced that they have signed an agreement to create a Joint venture called “Automotive Cells Company” (ACC), a company that manufactures batteries in Europe.
Yann Vincent has been appointed ACC's CEO, while Ghislain Lescuyer has been appointed board chairman.
"Total/Saft will contribute its expertise in R&D and industrialization, and Groupe PSA its knowledge of the automotive market and its experience in production," the companies said.
The R&D centre in Bordeaux and the pilot site at Nersac are already in the start-up phase to enable the development of new high-performance lithium-ion cell technologies.
At the end of this R&D phase, mass production is planned to be launched in two "GigaFactories", in Douvrin in France and Kaiserslautern in Germany.
