Peugeot: to focus on utility vehicles with Toyota

(CercleFinance.com) - According to the financial daily Les Echos today, French car maker Peugeot (PSA Group) and the Japanese group Toyota are deeply redefining their industrial cooperation, which began in 2001 and which could refocus on utility vehicles.


Toyota and PSA have decided to make an extensive review of the parameters of this association, the paper writes. First, by 2021, the collaboration in the design and construction of small vehicles will be (Toyota Aygo, Peugeot 108 and Citroën CL) will be terminated: this will be achieved by Toyota's purchase of shares in the dedicated joint venture, which has a plant that has a production capacity of 300,000 vehicles per year in the Czech Republic.

Secondly, the PSA-Toyota association in utility vehicles will be enlarged - and even doubled - in Les Echos writes: PSA Sevelnord's factory will continue to assemble Toyota vans, although that of Peugeot, which in Vigo, Spain, manufactures the Berlingo and Partner, will also assemble new Toyota models.
