Peugeot: biggest contribution to trade balance

(CercleFinance.com) - The PSA Group has announced that it makes the biggest contribution to the French trade balance amongst different car makers.

The group represents a surplus of 5.54 billion euros, including 200 million euros generated by the manufacture of Opel vehicles at its plant in Sochaux.

In 2017, the five vehicle assembly plants produced 1.1 million vehicles, 12.9% more than in 2016. This represents over one third of the Group's global vehicle production.

In addition, the 12 component factories manufacture nearly 5 million engines and gearboxes for the PSA Group in France.

Carlos Tavares, Chairman of the Managing Board of Groupe PSA, stated: “Directly contributing to France's economic activity is a source of great pride for our Group and for the 58,000 employees based in the country. It is important to create the right economic conditions to enable us to enhance, through our Push to Pass strategic plan, the performance of our manufacturing base in France in order to meet the challenges of the energy transition.”
