Thales: iSIM certified with Qualcomm
(CercleFinance.com) - Thales and Qualcomm Technologies yesterday announced the certification of the world's first commercially deployable iSIM (integrated SIM) on the Snapdragon 8 Generation 2 mobile platform, enabling SIM functionality on a smartphone's main processor.
The new iSIM can now offer device manufacturers more opportunities to save space, reduce build and supply chain costs while maintaining best-in-class security, the group says.
The emerging iSIM form factor complements existing SIM and eSIM projects, with research suggesting the market share will reach 300 million by 2027, representing 19% of all eSIM shipments, according to Kaleido Intelligence.
