Thales: contract for stratospheric platforms
(CercleFinance.com) - Thales Alenia Space announced on Thursday that it has signed a 43 million euro contract with the European Commission for a stratospheric platform demonstrator.
The joint venture between Thales (67%) and Italy's Leonardo (33%) has been selected to lead a European consortium involving 21 partners and 18 subcontractors from 11 countries.
This aims to develop several stratospheric demonstrators dedicated to different missions and aimed at improving intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities.
The project was selected by the European Commission last July as a collaborative defence research and development project under the European Defence Fund (EDF).
