Thales: 'green' partnership with SMRT Trains in Singapore
(CercleFinance.com) - Thales has announced a partnership with SMRT Trains (Singapore's Mass Rapid Transit) to develop next-generation signalling technologies for greener rail transport in Singapore.
Both partners, which are both aiming for zero emissions by 2050, are joining forces through "The Next-Generation Green CBTC Project" initiative, which aims to reduce electricity consumption and achieve energy efficiency gains in train traction on the nation's oldest rail networks: the North-South and East-West (NSEW) lines.
The green CBTC algorithms enable automatic driverless trains that follow optimised speed curves to save energy without sacrificing punctuality.
