Thales: 21 TALIOS systems ordered for Rafale
(CercleFinance.com) - Thales has received a firm order for 21 TALIOS optronic pods from the French Defence Procurement Agency (DGA).
The nacelle, an optronic long-range identification and targeting system, will be able to cover both aerial reconnaissance and surface target attack missions for the Rafale F4.
The pod is capable of scanning a large area, identifying targets of interest and immediately switching to target acquisition and tracking mode. Eventually, TALIOS will incorporate Artificial Intelligence algorithms that will provide significant and unprecedented target detection and recognition support to further accelerate the decision-making process, particularly in a high-intensity engagement, the group said.
This order brings the number of TALIOS pods that will equip the Rafale fighter jets of the French Air Force and Navy by 2025 to a total of 67.
