Thales: signs E350m contract with DGA

(CercleFinance.com) - The consortium led by Thales and CS Group has been awarded a contract by the French Defence Procurement Agency (DGA) to build and deploy the PARADE anti-drone capability.

The contract is worth a total of 350 million euros over 11 years, of which 33 million euros is firm to date.

Over the next 20 years, millions of new drones will be flying in the airspace, creating a highly complex aviation ecosystem and significant security challenges. To address this changing threat, the consortium led by Thales and CS GROUP is deploying a scalable, modular, multi-mission anti-drone system for the protection of military sites, both fixed and projected in external operations, it said.

The PARADE modular and multi-mission system aims to detect, classify and neutralise micro and mini-UAVs safely. This system will notably reinforce the security of the public and the infrastructures of two sporting events taking place in France: the 2023 Rugby World Cup and the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Not quite getting of the ground today (-0.4% at present), the Thales share is still outperforming a depressed index in Paris (-1.8%).
