Thales: pens contract for Sydney Metro

(CercleFinance.com) - Thales announces signing a contract worth 250 million Australian dollars (about 154 million euros) with Hong Kong-based MTR Corporation to expand central control and communication systems of the Sydney metro to City & Southwest (SMCSW).


Thales will design, manufacture, supply, install, test and commission the central control and communication systems for the SMCSW extension project.

The SMCSW is an extension of the Sydney Metro North West Project (SMNW), expanding the network to 66 kilometres of additional railtracks and 31 metro stations from Chatswood, under Sydney Harbor and via the Sydney CBD to Sydenham .

As part of this contract, Thales will extend the Sydney metro to the City & Southwest City project, integrating world-proven technology into central control and communication solutions that have been successfully operating on the Sydney Metro North West project since May 2019.
