Thales: agreement for sale of GP HSM business
(CercleFinance.com) - Thales has announced signing a definitive agreement with Entrust Datacard for the sale of its business of general purpose hardware security modules (GP HSM), which has been operating independently and separately since January 2019 under the brand name "nCipher Security".
This transaction is set to be finalised in the second quarter. Responding to a commitment made by Thales relating to the acquisition of Gemalto, this is subject to the finalisation of this merger, as well as approval from regulatory authorities.
The transaction will enable nCipher Security - which employs over 300 people and which reported 2018 sales of more than 100 million euros - to continue to deploy innovative solutions and services and to strengthen its leading position on the market.
