Thales: to modernise 785 km of Polish rail tracks
(CercleFinance.com) - Thales Group today announces that it has been selected by Polskie Linie Kolejowe, the operator of Polish national railways, to participate in a major program to modernise Poland's rail infrastructure.
PLK aims to move more trains at higher speeds under optimal safety conditions through the deployment of state-of-the-art technology.
Thales has hence won two contracts: one for the E20 Kunowice-Terespol line (which runs through Poland from Germany to Belarus, excluding the Warsaw hub) and the second for the E30 Krakow-Rzeszow line (Southern Poland).
Both programs, which are worth a total of 182 million euros (773.3 million zlotys), will enable trains to travel at speeds of up to 160 km/h.
