Thales: contract with Egyptian Railways.
(CercleFinance.com) - Thales has announced that Egypt National Railways (ENR) has recently awarded it a three-year contract to modernise signaling, telecommunications and associated works over 180 km of its mainline network.
This project aims to improve the safety and security of rail traffic and to enable trains to travel at speeds of up to 160 km/h, compared with 120 km/h at present. This will result in traffic doubling.
The French group has said that its proposed solution has been designed to work with the existing ATP system (automatic train protection), as well as with the future ETCS system (European Train Control System).
