Thales: creation of an artificial nano-neuron.
(CercleFinance.com) - Thales has announced that researchers from the Joint Physics Unit CNRS/Thales, the Nanosciences and Nanotechnologies Centre (CNRS/Université Paris Sud), have developed the world's first artificial nano-neuron with the ability to recognise numbers spoken by different individuals.
To achieve this result, a magnetic oscillator with very stable properties was used. Each gyration of this nano-compass is accompanied by an electrical emission, which makes it possible to imitate the electrical impulses emitted by the biological neurons.
The ultimate goal is to realize smart miniature chips that will find multiple applications, such as intelligently navigating robots or autonomous vehicles, assisting doctors in their diagnosis or improving medical prostheses.
