Pernod Ricard: acquisition in the US.
(CercleFinance.com) - After trading on Wednesday we learned that Pernod Ricard has, through the "New Brand Ventures" division of its US subsidiary, signed an agreement for a majority stake in le mezcal Del Maguey Single Village, a leading producer in traditionally produced artisanal mezcals and number one in the mezcal category in the United States.
Founded in 1995 by the artist and entrepreneur Ron Cooper, who will remain in office, le mescal Del Maguey Single Village offers a range of premium artisan mescals from the region of Oaxaca, in Mexico.
Note that mezcal global sales peaked at 80 million dollars in 2015, and that volumes have surged US by 279% between 2005 and 2015 in the US, according to data from International Wine & Spirits Research (IWSR).
