Bouygues: first in 5G in Lyon
(CercleFinance.com) - Bouygues Telecom announces that on 4 January, a first call was made in the streets of Lyon in 5G in real conditions with a mobile terminal that is fully compatible with this new technology.
This is a first - in collaboration with Ericsson and Qualcomm.
The 5G terminal used embeds a Qualcomm Snapdragon X50 5G modem. It was able to connect - both in the city and on the move - to Bouygues Telecom's first 5G Lyon site, consisting of 5G Ericsson 6488 active radio antenna connected to the fiber optic core network.
Lyon is the second city in which Bouygues Telecom deploys 5G in France, after Bordeaux, where it opened the first 5G pilot in real conditions last July. Bordeaux currently has 11 active 5G Bouygues Telecom sites.
