Bouygues: contract for Melbourne Metro tunnel
(CercleFinance.com) - Bouygues Construction has announces that the government of the Australian State of Victoria has awarded its consortium, Cross Yarra Partnership, the contract for the future tunnel of the Melbourne Metro, a contract that is worth 3.
9 billion euros.
The project, designed as part of a Public-Private Partnership, aims to increase the capacity of the Melbourne public transport network, with the town's population continuing to grow. It will also reduce congestion on the existing network.
The contract calls for the construction of a nine-kilometre long twin-tube tunnel, five underground metro stations, and the development of surrounding areas. The work, which will begin in early 2018, is scheduled to be completed in 2026.
