L'Oréal: Brazilian group Natura buys The Body Shop.

(CercleFinance.com) - L'Oréal has found a buyer for its subsidiary The Body Shop.
This morning the French cosmetics giant announced that the Brazilian group Natura Cosméticos has made an irrevocable bid and that exclusive negotiations are now underway. This gives The Body Shop an enterprise value of one billion euros.

Founded in 1976 by Anita Roddick in Brighton, in the UK, The Body Shop, a specialist in natural beauty, was bought out by L'Oréal in 2006 and currently has 3,000 sales outlets in over 60 countries.

It should be noted that L'Oréal bought The Body Shop on the London Stock Exchange via a takeover bid at 300 pence per share on 17 March 2006, which valued the target's capital at 652 million pounds. At the then exchange rate this represented around 950 million euros. In 2005, The Body Shop had consolidated sales of 419 million pounds (approximately 600 million euros at the time).
