TotalEnergies: wins offshore wind project won in US
(CercleFinance.com) - TotalEnergies announced on Friday that it has won a marine concession to develop a one-gigawatt offshore wind farm off the coast of North Carolina.
The French energy company said that it has been awarded the "OCS-A 0545" marine concession by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management following an auction process held last Wednesday.
The tender was won for 160 million dollars, it said.
Located 37 kilometres off the US coast, the concession covers an area of 222 square kilometres, with the capacity to supply electricity to over 300,000 US homes.
The project aims to be operational by 2030.
This announcement follows the award of another concession in February to develop a three-gigawatt wind farm off the coast of New York and New Jersey.
The share is up 2.5% on this news in early trading today.
