TotalEnergies: commissions energy storage site
(CercleFinance.com) - On Monday TotalEnergies announced the commissioning of a new energy storage site, comprising 11 containers of lithium-ion batteries designed and assembled by its subsidiary Saft.
The site - which has a storage capacity of 25 MWh - is located on its petrochemical platform in Carling (Moselle), which integrates two natural gas power plants and batteries.
The project is intended to help stabilise the electricity network and supply during peak consumption in France, particularly in winter.
It is part of a long-term call for tenders from the French electricity transmission system operator (RTE).
Following the commissioning of another storage site in Dunkirk, TotalEnergies plans to install a third site by the end of 2022 in order to complete the portfolio of projects conducted for RTE.
