Total: gas discovery in Egypt
(CercleFinance.com) - Total, BP and Eni have made a gas discovery on the Bashrush prospect of the North El Hammad permit, located 11 kilometres off the Egyptian coast.
Total holds a 25% interest in the North El Hammad permit, alongside operator ENI (37.5%) and BP (37.5%).
The well has encountered approximately 100 metres of gas in good quality sandstone from the Abu Madi formation. A production test was conducted with flows of up to 32 million cubic feet of gas per day (Mcf/d), limited by test conditions, the group said.
Current estimates say that production per well could reach up to 100m cf/d and up to 800 barrels of condensate per day.
.
These results support our strategy of devoting a significant portion of our exploration budget to the search for hydrocarbons in the vicinity of existing infrastructures, it added.
