Total: enters floating offshore wind segment
(CercleFinance.com) - Total announces that it will take a position in the floating offshore Wind segment, through an agreement with the developer Simply Blue Energy, to acquire an 80% stake in the pioneering floating wind project Erebus located in the Celtic Sea, in Wales.
This project, with a capacity of 96 MW, will be installed in an area with water depth of 70 metres. Total thus becomes one of the first players to take a position on this technology in the UK, the world's largest offshore wind market.
"This emerging technology has wide potential, opening access to sites further offshore, which have less impact on the landscape, and benefit from very high wind resources," Total said.
