Total: lays cornerstone of school for industry
(CercleFinance.com) - Oil major Total today announces that Patrick Pouyanné, its Chairman and CEO, and Muriel Penicaud, the French Minister of Labour, have laid the cornerstone of L'Industreet in Stains (Seine-Saint-Denis), which is a free school intended for young people, aged 18-25, who have no qualifications.
This initiative taken by Total, led through its corporate foundation, wants to provide a concrete and innovative response to the challenge of youth unemployment while more than 200,000 jobs are yet to be filled in industry in France. Industry is a sector in full development through increased use of robots and digitalization and a real mine of opportunities for young people seeking their professional path, Total sald.
L'Industreet is scheduled to open in autumn of 2020. It will then train 400 young people each year for jobs in the industry of the future.
