Total: Saft equips Ergon Energy Network in Australia
(CercleFinance.com) - Saft, a subsidiary of Total, reports that Australia's electricity grid operator, Ergot Energy Network, has installed 20 Saft Intensium Mini lithium-ion (Li-ion) energy storage systems (SBS) at 13 sites across in Queensland in four years.
As Australia's first Saft project in this sector, the company has implemented a network of Grid Utility Support System (GUSS) units to support Single Wire Earth Return (SWER) networks.
Each GUSS unit, equipped with Saft's Intensium Mini, stores energy when spare capacity is available and sends it back to the grid at times of high demand. The 20 Intensium Mini Systems were produced at the Jacksonville plant in Florida.
