Total: increases ethylene production in South Korea
(CercleFinance.com) - Total has announced that it is increasing its ethylene production capacity by 30% in South Korea.
Daesan's integrated refining-petrochemical platform in South Korea, owned by Hanwha Total Petrochemical, has started up its new ethylene production capacity.
Thanks to a 450 million dollar investment, the site is now capable of producing 1.4 million tonnes of ethylene per year, representing an increase of 30%.
Over 300 million dollars is being invested to increase polyethylene capacity by 50% and reach 1.1 million tonnes per year by the end of 2019.
Nearly 500 million dollars is also being invested to increase polypropylene capacity by almost 60%, reaching 1.1 million tonnes p.a. by 2021.
