Total: PLA factory starts up in Thailand
(CercleFinance.com) - Total Corbion PLA, a 50/50 joint venture between Total and Corbion, has announced the start of its Poly Lactic Acid (PLA) bioplastics plant in Rayong, Thailand.
With a capacity of 75,000 tonnes per year, this new plant has successfully manufactured PLA Luminy resins.
These products have been designed to meet customer needs for many markets - including packaging, consumer goods, 3D printing, fiber and automotive. They are optimised for extrusion, thermos-forming and molding processes by injection and spinning fibers.
In addition, the joint venture also owns a pilot plant that produces 1,000 tonnes of PLA per year in Rayong. This has been operational since the end of 2017, which will be used for product development.
