Total: acquires assets in Gulf of Mexico
(CercleFinance.com) - Total has announced the acquisition of a number of assets located in the Gulf of Mexico as part of the liquidation of Cobalt International Energy, after submitting offers for around 300 million dollars.
The French oil giant has bought a 20% stake in the discovery of North Platte, therefore bringing its total stake to 60%, becoming an operator of this discovery. It will also be a partner of Statoil, which will acquire the remaining 40%.
Total is also taking a 20% stake in the Anchor discovery, which is operated by Chevron, thereby increasing its stake to 32.5%, as well as 13 offshore exploration blocks, for which it will be an operator.
