Carrefour: invests in a Brazilian fintech
(CercleFinance.com) - As part of its strategy to become a player in digital banking in Brazil, Carrefour has announced the acquisition of a 49% stake in financial technology (fintech) company Ewally.
This stake in the start-up will enable the French retail group to expand its payment solutions and digital services in Brazil. The agreement includes the possibility of acquiring a controlling interest after three years.
Note that at present, about 45 million Brazilians do not have a bank account. The digital account, via an online application, will enable customers to pay their bills, transfer funds, accept payments and add additional services.
