Safran: joins forces with MTU Aero Engines
(CercleFinance.com) - On Wednesday evening Safran announced signing a partnership with MTU Aero Engines, to jointly lead the development, the production and the after-sales support activities of the new engine that will power the next generation combat aircraft, as part of the Franco-German Future Combat Air System (FCAS).
This plane is set to be commissioned by 2040 to replace the current
generation of Eurofighter and Rafale combat aircraft.
In addition, Safran also announced the inauguration of a new research
platform in Gennevilliers near Paris, with the group responsible for
combustor, high-pressure turbine and the afterburner. This brings
together the skills of around thirty engineers and doctoral students, in
a building of 3,000 m2 that is equipped with high technology equipment, which will conduct all development work of future very high performance turbine blades, Safran added.
