Nexans: 50 million euro contract with Red Eléctrica
(CercleFinance.com) - Red Eléctrica de España has signed a turnkey contract with Nexans for approximately 50 million euros.
This contract concerns the manufacture and installation of an interconnection cable between the islands of Mallorca and Menorca in Spain. The link is set due to be up and running in 2020.
The new 132 kV underground and submarine power cables connecting Mallorca and Menorca will measure 68 km. The submarine cable will be laid on the seabed at a maximum depth of 81 metres.
Ragnhild Katteland, Nexans Vice President Subsea and Land Systems said "By delivering a power interconnector between Majorca and Menorca, Nexans will bring security of supply, improving renewable integration and enhancing efficiency for both islands."
