Nexans: optical cables between Brazil and Cameroon

(CercleFinance.com) - Nexans has successfully manufactured and tested 6000 km of fiber-optic subsea cables for the South Atlantic Interconnection Link (SAIL) project connecting Cameroon to Brazil.

This link will provide Africa and South America with faster and more stable Internet connections. The link consists of four pairs of fibers, each with a bandwidth of 100 Gbit/s.

"The SEAX-1 project confirms our long-standing relationship with Huawei Marine, who values the performance and reliability demonstrated by our URC-1 fiber-optic cable," said Krister Granlie, Nexans Executive Vice President Submarine Telecom- and Special Cables System (STSC).

The submarine optical cable link between Brazil and Cameroon will be operational by the end of the third quarter of 2018.
