Eurofins: launches lower cost COVID-19 PCR test
(CercleFinance.com) - The bioanalytical company Eurofins announced on Wednesday the launch, by its US subsidiary Clinical Diagnostics, of a PCR test for Covid-19, which is described as cheaper and more accurate.
This "pooled" test, traditionally used by blood banks, can now be used by large companies, factories, schools and nursing homes.
Eurofins says the test - that can be used to monitor groups showing a prevalence of infection or people testing positive in quarantine - will be offered by its network of US laboratories from mid-August.
Eurofins also announced the launch of reagents for the automated extraction of SARS-CoV-2 RNA (ribonucleic acid) from clinical swabs, as there is still a high demand from medical laboratories for this.
