Altran: the Italian State blocks the acquisition of NEXT.
(CercleFinance.com) - Citing national security, the Italian government has stopped the acquisition of NEXT Ingegneria dei Sistemi by the French engineering consulting group Altran.
This applies, at least under the deal's terms, as announced in late July.
In the press release issued yesterday at the end of the Ministerial Council, in particular it is stated that the Italian government has decided to exercise the special powers conferred to it by law when this is required by the protection of matters of defense and national security. In essence, Rome considers that in its present conditions the operation goes against Italy's strategic interests.
Founded in Rome in 1999, NEXT has 230 employees and is primarily focused on the defense, aerospace, and rail industries. Its customer portfolio includes key players such as Leonardo, Telespazio, Thales Alenia Space and Bombardier Transportation, Altran said in the summer.
