Nokia: selected by Canadian research network Canarie
(CercleFinance.com) - Nokia announced on Thursday that Canarie, the Canadian research and education network, has selected it as the sole supplier for the implementation of a new high-performance IP network.
The Finnish company said it will deploy its Nokia 7750 router technology in the project to establish an IP/MPLS platform to connect 13 regional networks and 100 sites worldwide, spanning over 34,000 km.
The project, which will offer speeds from 100 Gb/s to 400 Gb/s, is capable of supporting up to 46 Tb/s, which is equivalent to transmitting 30 terabytes of data in less than 10 minutes - the equivalent of streaming 5,000 two-hour movies on Netflix in 1080p HD.
