Nokia: new capabilities in wireless broadband
(CercleFinance.com) - Nokia today announced a technology breakthrough that can increase wireless broadband capacity by 5 to 10 times, with a new approach to making 5G mmWave fixed wireless access viable.
As operators seek to increase throughput by leveraging the high-speed spectrum known as mmWave (24GHz to 40GHz), they often face problems with the propagation of these waves, whose high frequency makes them susceptible to physical obstacles.
The 360 High Gain 5G mmWave technology developed by Nokia allows direct and reflected signals from any direction to be picked up and adapted to the changing environment through advanced analysis.
Nokia has validated its technology in the laboratory and technology trials are underway in various urban environments.
The first deployments could be made in 2023, Nokia says.
