Nokia: deploys fiber network with Metrotel in Argentina
(CercleFinance.com) - Nokia today announced the deployment of its Altiplano cloud platform to provide fiber access to Metrotel's network in Argentina.
This deployment will enable Metrotel to provide broadband services to users across the country through a state-of-the-art shared fiber infrastructure, it said.
Metrotel has already built some 4,000 km of fiber networks, covering Greater Buenos Aires, Rosario, Cordoba, Mendoza and Neuquén.
By deploying Nokia Lightspan FX access nodes, Metrotel will be able to provide cheaper and faster connectivity to 40,000 customers in these regions.
Metrotel will initially focus on corporate customers, using the slicing capacity of the new network to optimise services by market segment.
Metrotel will then use the new infrastructure to achieve its strategic goal of becoming a broadband wholesaler, including in the residential market, and support 5G mobile backhaul (MBH) services.
