Nokia: wins 5G contract with Chunghwa in Taiwan
(CercleFinance.com) - Mobile networks supplier Nokia said on Tuesday it had won a contract to supply Taiwanese mobile operator Chunghwa Telecom with non-standalone 5G small cells.
The company said in a statement that its 5G small cells will allow instant 5G coverage in specific areas such as business and tourist districts.
Nokia said it has already commenced deployment and has installed 140 5G small cells to date.
Non-standalone 5G equipment allows operators like Chunghwa to add a 5G layer to their core network to offer 5G services, without massive infrastructure changes.
