Nokia: contract with BT in 5G
(CercleFinance.com) - Nokia announced on Tuesday that it has extended its strategic relationship with the British operator BT, which has selected it as supplier of its 5G RAN equipment.
The mobile network specialist will provide equipment and services at BT radio sites across the UK, helping to transfer BT's radio access network to 5G.
BT's Nokia-equipped network currently includes Greater London, the Midlands and rural areas, an area that will be extended to cover several other cities across the country.
The agreement will also see Nokia optimise BT's 2G and 4G networks and work alongside BT on the development of the OpenRAN ecosystem.
This agreement makes Nokia BT's leading equipment supplier.
