Nokia: also withdraws from MWC Barcelona
(CercleFinance.com) - Finnish telecom equipment maker Nokia on Wednesday withdrew from the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona due to the coronavirus outbreak, one week after its Swedish peer Ericsson made a similar move.
The company said it has taken the decision after a full assessment of the risks related to a "fast-moving situation," citing the "absolute priority" of the health and safety of its employees.
The event organiser, GSMA, has said that it was monitoring the situation and that it will adapt plans according to "developments and advice."
MWC, the largest mobile event in the world, is set to take place from 24 to 27 February.
