Nokia: stock jumps 5% - US players take stake?

(CercleFinance.com) - The Nokia share is up about 5% on Friday, following yesterday's 2.
5% rise following the announcements of William P. Barr, the US attorney general, on 5G networks and in particular on the development of the Huawei network.

William P. Barr said that the United States could acquire a majority stake in Nokia and/or Ericsson, either directly or through a consortium of private US and allied companies.

At present, only two companies can compete with Huawei as 5G infrastructure providers: Nokia and Ericsson. They have quality and reliable products that are a guarantee of performance. They have successfully managed customer migration from 4G to 5G. The main concern of these providers is that they have neither the scale of Huawei nor the support of a powerful country with a huge market, like China, he said.

Putting our big market and financial firepower behind one or both of these companies would create a more formidable competitor. We and our closest allies definitely need to actively consider this approach, he added.
